Discover the World on Foot, One Frame and One Step at a Time
Welcome to my website where I show my journey from a complete novice in walking and photography to developing an interest, some may say ‘an obsession’, in these two great hobbies.
The hobbies have been a huge source of energy and focus for me outside of my day job of football coaching. The hobbies have also helped me to fight back against ongoing rheumatoid arthritis which is an auto-immune disease which can cripple through severe joint pain and other side effects.
Walking is an activity which allows exercise at low levels allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and sites of the countryside or urban environment you may visit. You may even come across other people that enjoy the same as you, thus, giving you a chance to make friends.
Never was this more so than during our Covid19 lockdowns when walking became a good way to exercise each day.
On these walks, with a friend of mine at the time, I would take one or two photographs with my mobile (cell) phone. Before long my friend and I would begin planning walks for the route plus she would make up a picnic for us to eat on the longer walks … and … because we were visiting picturesque areas more and more … I decided a better record of these visits would be necessary.
I then bought my first DSLR, an EOS-M, approximately 12 years old since its release.
The rest, as they say, is history.
You can read more about my walking and photographic exploits elsewhere on this site and I have plenty of photographs and videos which, not only depict WHERE I have visited, but also how my skills in photography and videography have improved after some questionable early attempts in 2022!

Why a website and not just YouTube?
A website gives me more options in terms of uploading different types of content rather than just videos which can be limited to moving images and if I wanted to have a viewpoint on anything else a website gives me options to upload text or still images much more easily.
To include that type of content on a video would take far too much editing and time for the project that I have.
I can film and edit and upload videos to YouTube but then use the website for more in-depth content, some of which will be behind a paywall and thus I can earn money from that content. I can use YouTube to upload shorter video content and then expand the length of videos for my website where members can enjoy a more in-depth experience.
The website will also give a chance to post single messages in the form of ‘posters’ to announce various things. Visiting a website and then seeing a new announcement on the frontpage will have more impact than a two minute video would do. Most people have a much shorter attention span these days and a single page or post will grab attention more than a video.
